This ten-module course provides participants with an introduction to the fundamentals of illumination. It gives a comprehensive overview of basic lighting principles, lamp and luminaire types, lighting calculations, and controls, as well as functional and aesthetic applications best practices. All taught by your fellow Detroit Lighting Professionals.
This course is ideal for architects, engineers, designers, contractors, sales reps, customer service reps, manufacturers, distributors, and students.

FOL 2026 will be an in-person curriculum. The in-person sessions will be taught at ESD, the Engineering Society of Detroit, 20700 Civic Center Drive, Suite 450, Southfield, MI 48076.
Pre-registration is required and registration fees must be paid in advance. Your registration fee includes all course materials, which are electronic and will be emailed to you prior to the start of the course. Also included will be food and beverages at each session.
