[5.9.9.3] The commonly used term that encompasses both the stimulus (i.e., the temporal light modulation, TLM) and the response (i.e., visual perceptions from TLM, also known as temporal light artifacts (TLA), as defined by the International Commission on Illumination (CIE) associated with a periodic modulation in light or the perception of light.
Note: The term “flicker” should be avoided, especially at frequencies above 80 Hz, because it can be non-specific and confusing.
