Aminul is a Project Manager and a Senior Electrical Engineer with M&R Engineering Ltd. (a member of BPA) based out of Halifax, Nova Scotia. He brings over 13+ years of industry leading experience in engineering design, multi-disciplinary project management, and business development. He worked in a few industry sectors including power generation, research, academia, manufacturing (lighting products), and engineering consulting.

Aminul is passionate in lighting applications, his early career in lighting started within street and area lighting design, smart city networks and sensor applications. Eventually he got involved with the IES in early 2018 and started contributing to the Education Sub-committee for Street and Area Lighting Conference (SALC). Later he became a member of the ANSI C136 Series Standards Committee for Roadway and Area Lighting Equipment (2019-2022) and furthered his contribution. Aminul is also a long serving member of IEEE (2008-2019), where he previously held the position of Chairman for both IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) local chapter and IEEE Industry Relations Committee at the Canadian Atlantic Section. Today Aminul is an active member of the IES, he served in the position of Vice-President (2022-2024) in past years and is the current President (2025) of IES Halifax Section.

Beyond lighting, Aminul is experienced in power distribution systems, EV charging infrastructures, solar photovoltaics, battery energy storage, and fire alarm systems. He holds a strong and diversified portfolio, with numerous unique projects, where he serviced the utility, municipal, institutional, commercial, industrial, healthcare, and multi-unit residential segments in Canada, as well as, Bangladesh, the Middle East, Australia, New Zealand and the Caribbeans.
