Chadwick Carswell

Chadwick Carswell is an architectural lighting designer whose work explores the intersection of light with architecture, materiality, and visual perception. A native of Atlanta, he spent nearly twenty years working in New York City. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design and studied in the design programs at Parsons School of Design and the University of North Texas.With twenty‐six years of experience, Chadwick specializes in interior, exterior, and landscape lighting, crafting nuanced environments that strengthen spatial relationships through the careful integration of light, architectural volume, and space articulation.

With work grounded in both technical discipline and creative expression, his portfolio includes private residences and estates for art collectors, significant cultural institutions, public and private landscapes, boutique hotels, and retailshops. During his career, he has collaborated with interdisciplinary teams including Foster + Partners, Skidmore Owings & Merrill, Toshiko Mori Architects, Maya Lin Studio, Gensler, Pei Cobb Freed & Partners, S.R. Gambrel, Andrée Putnam, and Backen & Backen. He also served for seven years as an adjunct professor of lighting design at the Fashion Institute of Technology, where he taught the evolving role of lighting within architecture and design.
