Dr. Yulia Tyukhova

Dr. Yulia Tyukhova is an independent researcher, whose research interests include lighting quality, glare, visual comfort, data analytics, and high dynamic range luminance measurements. She received her PhD in Architectural Engineering – Lighting from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Her past and present involvements include technical and non-technical committees of the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES), International Commission on Illumination (CIE), and the Transportation Research Board (TRB). Yulia is the past Chair of the IES Emerging Professionals (EP) committee that focuses on opportunities for new professionals and promotes the integration of EPs and students into the society and its leadership. Dr. Tyukhova authors and reviews scientific papers, holds two patents, and presents at conferences such as the IES Annual Conference, the Lighting R&D Workshop organized by the Department of Energy, and the IES Webinar series. Yulia Tyukhova is a recipient of the Fulbright scholarship, Richard Kelly Grant, the Science, Technology, Engineering, Production (STEP) Ahead Emerging Leader Award (now known as the Women MAKE Awards) from the Manufacturing Institute and was named a future thought leader of the lighting industry by Lighting Design + Application (LD+A) magazine in the past.
