HELLO – We are IES MENA!
Established in 1906, the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) is the most recognized technical and educational authority worldwide on illumination and the art of architectural lighting design.
As the newest Chapter of the Illuminating Engineering Society, IES Middle East and North Africa (MENA) aims to enrich the local knowledge, experience, and expertise of all lighting enthusiasts in the region by extending the Illuminating Engineering Society’s operations to the region.

IES MENA is more than maintaining the existing lighting community in the Middle East and North Africa. We are committed to elevating its presence with out-of-the-box thinking and achieving new heights. Our dedication to promoting the art & science of quality lighting to our members, allied professional organizations, and the design profession is unwavering. Our unique contributions as seasoned professionals in building and designing cities provide a significant impact as we collectively blaze a new trail for the next generation of lighting enthusiasts by creating considerable impact, inspiring and exciting our audience.
The IES is dedicated to the professional growth of its members worldwide. We offer diverse professional development programs, including workshops, webinars, and certification courses. These programs are tailored to the needs of our members and designed to enhance their skills and knowledge in architectural lighting.
We publish and maintain a wealth of professional development publications, such as access to our comprehensive Lighting Library®, a collection of over 100 standards authored by subject matter experts in our technical committees. Additionally, we organize numerous seminars, workshops, and social activities throughout the year. These include hands-on lighting design workshops, webinars on the latest lighting technologies, and networking events with industry leaders. These activities and resources are designed to promote our mission and vision, providing a platform for knowledge sharing and professional growth that is inclusive to all professionals in the lighting design field.
