RP-8-18 wins in the ‘Non-Luminous Product’ Category

RP-8-18 Wins at Lightfair(New York, May 20, 2019) — The Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) is excited to announce that ANSI/IES RP-8-18 Recommended Practice for Design and Maintenance of Roadway and Parking Facility Lighting was selected as this year’s recipient of the award for Non-Luminous Products – Research, Publications, Software, and Specialty Hardware at the 2019 LightFair Innovation Awards. ANSI/IES RP-8-18 is a substantial revision to previous versions of ANSI/IES RP-8 in that it is an aggregation of several IES Standards covering roadway and parking facility lighting. This Recommended Practice is a compilation of lighting design techniques and criteria, all offered for quality roadway lighting solutions. Each chapter should not be taken in isolation but used as a whole for quality lighting design for roadways and other environments where vehicles are present, such as tunnels, intersections, and parking lots.

“This achievement would not be possible without the volunteer efforts of many dedicated individuals from the Roadway Lighting Committee,” said Tim Licitra, IES Executive Director. “Thank you for the time and great work that the many committee members have dedicated to elevate our standards and increase the recognition and awareness of the IES as The Lighting Authority in roadway lighting design and engineering.”
