How They Did It: Coast & Valley Wine Bar

Derek Porter Studio created a barrel-vaulted chandelier made of 406 wine bottles to illuminate a small wine bar in Brooklyn, NY, and earn an IES Illumination Award of Merit.

The pendants are off-set in alternating rows to increase perceived bottle density, and secured to pre-wired ceiling mounted channels that are painted white to minimize visual distraction. Layered reflections on the clear bottle surfaces yield a crystal-like visual, enhancing the dining experience and street-view appeal. Photos: Derek Porter
