It may not be the season to tip toe through the tulips at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden—but it is the season to wind through a dazzling, mile-long trail animated by over a million lights, color and music.
“Lightscape,” the after-dark, immersive experience that made its East Coast debut (and sold out) at the Garden last winter, takes visitors on an hour-long journey through its 52-acre landscape. Along the way, light installations and vibrant, artistic displays highlight surrounding trees, landscapes and architecture. Last year’s event, for example, featured 14,000 glowing orbs, 600 strands of lights, a 98-ft long illuminated tunnel, and five poems by Jacqueline Woodson projected in light. Some components of the debut experience—such as the iconic “Winter Cathedral” tunnel display (pictured)—are returning this year. Others—including Culture Creative’s “Neon Waves,” an illuminated, gently-moving canopy formed by strings of neon cord stretched between Kanzan trees—are new for the 2022-2023 season.
Sponsored by ConEdison, and presented in partnership with Sony Music, “Lightscape” runs on select dates through January 8, 2023. For more information, or to purchase tickets, visit bbg.org/lightscape.
