SUMMARY:Navigating the Time-Complexity Dilemma in Lighting Controls: Rethinking "Simplicity"
DESCRIPTION:Lighting controls are inherently complex – sitting at the intersection of lighting design\, electrical engineering\, building codes\, networking\, software\, and human behavior. When oversimplified\, that complexity can introduce risk. When thoughtfully simplified\, it creates lasting value. \nThis session presents a practical framework to balance time and complexity – driving greater design adoption\, improving installation outcomes\, and delivering a better long-term experience for building owners. \nRegistration Page

SUMMARY:PNNL: The Growing Body of Research on Near Infrared and How it Could Change Lighting Practice
DESCRIPTION:The “circadian era” of lighting has challenged lighting specifiers to expand beyond vision and aesthetics to account for how light can affect physiological wellbeing. Now the industry is beginning to learn that wellbeing isn’t just influenced by blue light\, but also far red and near infrared (NIR) radiation. New products\, bold claims\, and nascent science offer an intriguing story of how an NIR-rich spectrum like sunlight could improve cognition\, boost mood\, reduce pain\, repair tissue\, and more. This presentation will introduce the science of photobiomodulation\, outlining what is currently known and what could change in the future. It will also cover how lighting practice might change\, and what to watch for as the science emerges. \n\n\nFree registration for members / $29 USD for Non-Members\nRegistration for this event ends on Thursday\, August 20\, 2026 at 12:00 PM (ET)\nParticipants will receive one (1) IES continuing education credits (CEUs)
