[5.9.6.2] A measure of the ability to distinguish fine details, usually measured with optotypes* of different sizes when not constrained by contrast. Quantitatively, it is the reciprocal of the minimum angular size in minutes of arc of the critical detail of an object that can just be resolved. (See resolving power.)
