cyclorama (“cyc”)

[10.6.2.40] In television, film and theater lighting: A vertical surface used to form a background of apparently infinite depth. It is evenly illuminated with striplights and/or scoops from above and below in order to produce this effect. Those luminaires below the cyc may be recessed below stage level in a pit designed for the purpose.
