Jared is a Senior Electrical Engineer and Manager of CBCL Limited’s Buildings Electrical department. Having led and participated in numerous projects in the healthcare, commercial, transportation, institutional, retail, industrial, and municipal sectors, he has over a decade of experience with power systems, building information modeling, telecommunications, energy efficiency measures, project and people management, and renewable energy. He is also an experienced lighting designer, as well as a lighting simulation and analysis expert. This experience has been gained through project work with CBCL Limited both in Canada and internationally, including assignments in the Caribbean and South America.

Jared holds accreditation from the Green Building Certification Institute as a LEED Operation and Maintenance Accredited Professional, is a Lighting Certified (LC) Professional, is a Past President of the Halifax Section of the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES), as well as previously held the position of IES District 1 Chair; comprising all Canadian sections from Ontario to Newfoundland. Mr. Smith has also served as a member of the Canadian Green Building Council’s Board of Managers for their Atlantic Chapter. Jared lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.
