Dr. Elise McGlashan is an Academic Fellow in the Melbourne School of Psychological Sciences at the University of Melbourne, Australia. She is a chronobiologist with training in psychology, having completed her PhD at Monash University in 2019. Her research seeks to understand the role of sleep and circadian rhythms in the development and maintenance of mental health problems, and to characterise the direct effects of light on mood and brain function. Specifically, she investigates the role of inter-individual differences in light sensitivity and how they may convey risk for sleep and mood disorders, and how we can integrate knowledge about sleep and circadian function into the treatment of common mental health concerns to improve outcomes.
