[5.9.11.4] The effect of stray light in the eye whereby the contrast of the retinal image is reduced and, consequently, whereby visibility and visual performance may also be reduced. A direct glare source that produces discomfort may also produce disability glare by introducing a measurable amount of stray light in the eye.
