The winners of the first–annual Beacon Awards, presented by DLFNY, honoring outstanding achievements in lighting design in 2024, were announced at a ceremony in October at Sony Hall in New York City. The winners of the categories, Commercial, Exterior, History/Cultural, Hospitality/Retail, New York Project, Product Design Innovation and Residential, are as follows, respectively:
- The Spiral by Fisher Marantz Stone
- I-74 Mississippi River Bridge by HLB Lighting Design
- David Geffen Hall by Fisher Marantz Stone
- Chasing Rabbits by Focus Lighting
- Penn Station 33rd Street Entrance by HLB Lighting Design
- Rockefeller Center Concourse by Lighting Workshop
- Prim by Peerless Lighting
- Meadow Pavilion by Loop Lighting
The 2024 ICON Award was posthumously granted to Caroline Rinker, and the DLFNY is continuing to accept donations to the Lana Lenar Lighting Empowerment Scholarship fund. DLFNY President Cynthia Turner said, “DLFNY has long been known for our outstanding programs, and the Beacon Awards are the newest jewel in our crown. I am so delighted that in our first year our awards have been so warmly received by the design community.”
