YoungJoo Kim, an international graduate student in the Master of Professional Studies in Lighting Design at the New York School of Interior Design (NYSID), has been selected as the recipient of the 2022 IESNYC Thesis Award and $2,000 for her SPYDER Retail flagship design concept. Kim, who recently accepted a position as a lighting designer at BOLD, designed a dynamic concept that represented the brand’s core values, while cleverly capturing customers with the illusion of a spider’s web.
The IESNYC has recognized students annually with this award since 2014 and seeks to encourage young professionals in the community with other initiatives such as the annual IES Merit Scholarship, the Student Lighting Competition and more.
