GE Current, a Daintree company (www.gecurrent.com), announced in October, 2021 that it plans to acquire the South Carolina-based Hubbell commercial and industrial (C&I) lighting business, with the deal to close in the first quarter of the new year. The Hubbell C&I lighting business (www.hubbell.com) is a provider of professional lighting, lighting controls and connected lighting for a broad range of indoor and outdoor lighting projects. The company’s collection of brands includes Area Architectural Lighting, Beacon, Litecontrol, Kim, Columbia, Prescolite, Alera, Dual-Lite, Hubbell Outdoor Lighting and Hubbell Controls Solutions. The goal of the GE Current and Hubbell C&I lighting business collaboration is to create a premier end-to-end lighting solutions business. CEO of Current Manish Bhandari said, “we intend to use our combined resources to drive new investments that create solutions for the continuously evolving needs of our customers.”
Though the two businesses’ product and controls portfolios will align to continue conversion to LED and connected light controls systems, each business will maintain separate agency networks and distinct brands.
