SPECIAL ICC MEMBERSHIP DISCOUNT OFFERED TO IES MEMBERS

The International Code Council is offering a limited discount to IES members interested in joining the ICC. This offer, providing 20% off the regular member price, will be effective through September 30 and will include a special thumb drive packed with information regarding the new International Green Construction Code (IGCC). The Illuminating Engineering Society of North America is one of several cooperating sponsors of the IGCC, launched in March as the first model code to create a regulatory framework for green construction. Membership in the ICC translates to voting privileges at the ICC formal code development hearings and also provides other benefits.

The IGCC is only the latest in a family of time-tested, complementary codes governing all phases of commercial and residential construction, including sustainability as well as safety. This fall the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) will be up for Final Action votes and two hearings will be held in 2011 regarding the IGCC. The International Code Council is the premier membership organization dedicated to building safety, fire safety, and building sustainability.

ICC member benefits include: Technical Support such as opinions and technical assistance; Member-Only website features including career information, an electronic membership roster, tracking of membership and certification status, and the Building Safety Journal on-line magazine; Voting privileges regarding code changes and development, with all ICC members voting at preliminary hearings and governmental members voting at all Final Action hearings; and Special Discounts on codes, technical publications, seminars, educational materials, videos, and other products and services.

This ICC Membership Discount is a limited special offer to members of the IGCC cooperating sponsor organizations: IES, AIA, ASTM International, ASHRAE and USGBC. With the membership purchase, new members will receive a free compilation of the 2009 I-Codes, complete collection on CD (PDF version). A special gift will also be issued: a thumb drive with IGCC, IGCC video and background materials. This special offer ends September 30, 2010.

Relevant ICC Member Categories include Building Safety Professional Member, Corporate Member, and Governmental Member in one of the following categories: up to 50,000 population, 50,001–150,000 population, and over 150,000 population.

A special flyer with this information will be distributed at the IGCC Public Hearings in Chicago on August 14 through 22. Annual membership dues must be prepaid with check, money order, or credit card and submitted with their application.
