New York, NY October 5, 2016 –The Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IES) is pleased to announce Naomi Miller as an At Large Director of the IES Board of Directors. Ms. Miller was appointed to replace Dawn De Grazio, whose At-Large Director position became vacant after she was hired as IES Technical Editor.
Ms. Miller is a designer/scientist in the solid state lighting program at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Portland, OR. Working to bridge the gap between technology and application, Miller promotes the wise use of LEDs, and works with the lighting industry to overcome the hurdles where LEDs are not ready for prime time. She has received more than 30 architectural lighting design awards for projects ranging from churches to university science buildings, boutique hotels, supermarkets, and parking lots.
Miller chaired the IES Quality of the Visual Environment committee for 8 years and was a principal member of the writing team for Light + Design: A Guide to Designing Quality Lighting for People and Buildings (DG-18-08). She is a Fellow of the IES and Fellow of the IALD. Miller received a Bachelor of Science in Art and Design (Architecture) from MIT and a Masters of Science in Lighting from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
